Duke Nukem Forever Review

Duke Nukem 3D was released in 1996 and now five years later 3D Realms has made Duke Nukem Forever as a sequel to the popular Duke Nukem 3D. Though the first was a hit, this one is not loved so much with an overall rating of 5.5. While playing this game I would definitely not recommend it for kids under 17! This is also a definite "guys" game. The graphics are better than the 1996 version, but, not impressive, though the game is intended to have an older feel to it.
In this sequel, the aliens are back with a vengeance, and so is Duke. And Duke is beloved by the world with museums and street statues about him everywhere. But this time the alien creatures are taking Earth's women and using them to reproduce. Of course the extreme woman loving Duke won't stand for this! So, the games main focus is stopping the creatures from taking the women and overall saving the world again from aliens. This time Duke can only carry two guns, but, he does have some pretty cool guns such as the freeze ray and the Ripper.

The game is very sexual and has a ton of inappropriate jokes and comments. Some find them funny and others find these offensive. Personally i think it all depends on the person. You urinate in urinals and get a reward for picking up poop out of it, you can up your Ego by slapping breasts hanging from the walls and you even battle a huge three breasted naked creature as one of the Bosses.
The scenes seem to be a hit or miss with some lasting only 3-4 minutes without shooting anyone and others lasting very long. There are parts that seem to be fillers where you are exploring to get to the next fight. These areas can be very frustrating and a lot of them are a puzzle where you have to figure out what to do to get to a certain point like a certain way to get to the floor above by using a statue of Duke where you need to figure out how and which way to move the state to climb up it or using a remote control car when your shrunken and finding the right way to go. On the upside some of the battles can be really fun, though they can be far between.

The game is very interactive though, you can pretty much pick up and throw anything. Drinking beers makes you able to take more hits on your Ego but, also makes you have blurred vision and taking steroids makes you super strong for a little bit. You can draw on white boards and sign autographs, at one point you can put in a porno video of Duke himself and watch part of it before it messes up. And there are lots of little interactions that boost your overall Ego, like peeing in the urinals and slapping the breasts hanging from the walls.
I would say overall my playing of this game was both good and bad. It has a lot of gameplay in it with driving Dukes monster truck, being small and driving RC cars, puzzles to figure out, and of course the first person shooting. But, again the sexual references and offensive dialogue isn't  appropriate for younger than 17. You have to be able to let the "jokes" run off you, not to mention that the voices are all mono toned and there's not really any uniqueness to them. But, I have met people who loved it and those who hated it. I personally would also give it a 5.0 rating because it's a love or hate it kind of game!

So, with this game I would say that the decision to play it or not is completely up to you, I wouldn't recommend it because like I said it's a love or hate game. If you do give it a try, come back and comment your review and give your opinion of the game. Til next time Mega Gamers!!
